Sarah Thomas is a proud member of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation and currently the Director of Indigenous Programs at Clear Seas. Her work focuses on integrating Indigenous knowledge into marine research, fostering collaboration, and breaking down barriers to Indigenous participation in the marine sector and the blue economy.
With a background in traditional oral history and Western academics, Sarah brings a unique perspective to her work. She holds a Bachelor of Communications from Capilano University and an MBA in Indigenous Business and Leadership from Simon Fraser University. Passionate about Indigenous Knowledge and data sovereignty, Sarah strives to create lasting change in this evolving field.
Beyond Sarah’s role at Clear Seas, she is actively involved in community leadership. In 2022, she was honored to be selected for the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference, where she served as co-chaired for her PEI study group. She also serves on a few other boards and committees, including the Vancouver Maritime Museum and the Inlailawatash Board of Directors.
Sarah’s commitment to relationship-building, storytelling, and strategic leadership drives her efforts to advance Indigenous inclusion in the marine and business sectors.
